Cyanogen Gets a Cease and Desist from Google

Cease and Desist on Cyanogen Mod

Cease and Desist on Cyanogen Mod

And so it begins. What started out as a great concept as an open source mobile platform in Android, it’s now apparent that things can quickly turn. Since the release of the T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream), hackers, modders and rom cookers have loved the device for it’s ease of hacks. While nowhere near as popular as the iPhone, the G1 has found a great deal of community support. All of that may change today. In a strange turn around from Google’s standard mantra of “Do no Evil,” a cease and desist has been sent to famed Android modder cyanogen to halt all development of modified Android Roms. What is the big G thinking?

Awesome Mario Piranha Plant Sculpture

I stumbled upon this great Piranha Plant Sculpture from the wide world of Mario. As an action figure enthusiast, anytime I see anyone making cool things like this, I tend to nerd out.

Check out the cool video of how Kalapusa crafted the sculpture below.

Tickmaster Elbows It’s Way Further Into Your Pockets

The Associated Press is reporting today that Ticketmaster has finally “solved” the ticket scalper conundrum they’ve been facing since their inception. Any concert goer or sports fan will surely have a story to tell and an opinion to follow about scalpers. Some think they’re just making a living. Others think they’re ruining the concert or game experience by gouging patrons for higher prices. No matter your opinion on the subject, Ticketmaster feels they should be the scalper on top of being the first seller. In other words, every time tickets exchange hands, Ticketmaster gets a piece of it.

A few short months after being grilled by Congress for merging with LiveNation, Ticketmaster is at it again with their anti-competitive practices. It boggles my mind how no one is calling this company out. Once their plan has been completely realized, you will not be able to attend a major concert without dealing with Ticketmaster. As any of you who’ve purchased a ticket through Ticketmaster know, there are always fees tacked on to the base price. Now who’s to stop Ticketmaster from adding more fees on top of their already restrictive fees? If parents keep doling out the dough for their kids to see Miley Cyrus, every other consumer will inevitably be screwed into paying increasingly higher fees. Stop the madness now and speak up out against Ticketmaster.

Students Get Windows 7 for $30

The Microsoft team over on Twitter just announced a great deal for students for the upcoming Windows 7 release. The offer is for a single Windows 7 Home Premium license key. Considering that this sucker will run you $120 on the October 22, 2009 launch, $30 is a smoking deal. All you need is a school email address and you’re in business.

Welcome to Graphic Blade

Hello everyone. Welcome to my new blog dedicated to design, gadgets and sports. I have a great passion for these things and I can’t wait to start sharing that with you. Here’s a little bit of information about me. I currently work as a Marketing Specialist for a sustainability software company called ESS. After graduating with a business degree from Arizona State University, I quickly joined a great team at ESS and have been engulfed in the world of Environmental, Health and Safety software solutions. It’s a mouthful, I know. But it’s been great. This opportunity has allowed me to develop my graphic design skills and truly fall in love with the art and process. I grew up on a small-ish Caribbean island, which for now will go unnamed, and was taught at an early age about the greatness of baseball. Since as far as I can remember, I’ve loved baseball. Naturally, that opened my eyes to the wide-world of sports in general. Having gone to a major university and having lived in a city with all four major sports teams, it’s been very easy to fall in love with everything sports related. Please add my rss feed to your reader and stay tuned for some great insight.
